It was actually supper club/Halloween party/tailgate party.
This particular get-together was at the end of October, and Mississippi State played Alabama that night. On national TV. And that's all I've got to say about that. (cough cough painful cough cough)
Jeffrey is quickly learning a Pavlovian response - a wince and groan - when I say "I saw this thing on Pinterest and it'd be so easy to make!"
(Although, really, the things we did for this party were truly easy.)
It's not the best photo but I had to show the Maroon & White Easy Peasey Cookies* and the miniature cupcakes. The one that caused this.
I was still so traumatized that I could not eat a cupcakes.
Thankfully, someone brought light-as-air caramel corn.
Maroon & Whites:
One box of red velvet cake mix, one egg, and half a tub of Cool Whip (Who doesn't love white trash cookin'? Awright!) mixed together. Shape into balls and roll in confectioner's sugar. Bake at 350 for 8 to 10 minutes.
You can use any cake mix - lemon, chocolate, spice cake. I chose red velvet cake mix to get that cool maroon color.
