We're back! At Week One! (Which in no way at all constitutes a failure. Right?) It seems like only yesterday when we started.
I blew off working out both Friday and Monday. In other words, I have seriously been off the wagon.
In a surprising development, my weight magically dropped two-tenths of a pound although I’m sure I corrected that yesterday, when I consumed probably more fat grams and carbs than I have in a week. Or several days anyway. Or maybe just since the weekend’s boudin and cheese fest, which wasn’t actually that many days ago.
This morning, bright and early, I was back at it. I did the brisk! five minute warm up walk and jogged for sixty seconds. I did that three times. But my jogging pace was s-l-o-w, even for me. I’m so paranoid about hurting my knee again that pretty much that’s all I could think about.
What I’ve decided is I’m opting out of the Official Couch to 5K Training Program.
Instead, I’m going to come up with my own version that will involve working out for 20-25 minutes three days a week but that workout will be a combination of warm up walking, flat out fast walking, and short jogging segments. True, it’s no training regimen but I’ll do physical activity several times a week and that’s what’s important. Is what I keep telling myself.
I feel a bit like I’m wimping out and I am a little disappointed that my career as a distance runner ended before it got started. At the same time, that tendonitis HURT ya’ll. I don’t want to chance going through that again.

Definitely not a failure... no way, no how! Anything that motivates you to move your ass, in my opinion, is a good thing.
I don't think you're wiping out at all. You are still going to get your cardio in, and you are going to protect your knee. Good girl. Now go eat some macaroni and cheese. I want some, and since I have been living vicariously through the whole 5k thing, it's only fair that you take it to the next level. Thanks.
It's not wimping out. Every program doesn't work for every person. You have to tailor it to what works for you.
Well, at least it's exercise! Not all things work for all people. It's most certainly a GOOD thing that you're trying to find something that helps keep you healthy. Just keep going at it slowly...your body WILL adjust and it'll get easier! Good job!
